GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS
GT Geotechnical are experienced in delivering geotechnical investigations of all shapes and sizes. With over 20 years of experience conducting geotechnical investigations from residential applications to full scale transport infrastructure investigations we can manage your project no matter the size.
Utility Mounted Drill Rig Investigations
GT Geotechnical can mobilise to site quickly with utility mounted drill rigs to conduct investigations up to 6 m.bgl. Utility mounted investigations are a cost-effective method to gather important geotechnical data to guide design and construction of light weight structures up to 3 storeys in height.
Tight Access Drilling Investigations
If access is an issue GT Geotechnical have portable hand operated drilling equipment for investigations up to 2 m.bgl. These investigations are suitable for preliminary assessment prior to construction of access for plant. Also knock down rebuilds for retaining wall designs where access is limited.
Truck/Track Mounted Drill Rig Investigations
For larger projects and deeper investigations, GT Geotechnical works with truck and track mounted drill rigs capable of drilling through soil and rock. These rigs allow for Standard Penetration Tests, rock coring push tube sampling and installation of ground monitoring wells. That makes them suited to commercial and industrial developments, multi storey buildings, bridges, retaining structures and transport infrastructure. Track mounted rigs can also access soft, steep or uneven sites that conventional vehicles cannot.
CPT/CPTu Geotechnical Investigations
Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) and Piezocone Testing (CPTu) give a continuous, high-resolution profile of subsurface conditions. A cone is pushed into the ground while it measures tip resistance, sleeve friction and, for CPTu, pore water pressure. These tests are particularly valuable in soft clays and loose sands, common across South East Queensland's coastal and floodplain areas. CPT data supports settlement analysis, pile design, liquefaction assessment and embankment design. It is often paired with boreholes to give a complete picture of the ground at a lower cost than drilling alone.
Environmental Geotechnical Investigations
GT Geotechnical can combine geotechnical and environmental sampling in a single site investigation, reducing mobilisation costs and keeping your project on program. Our services include soil sampling for contamination screening, waste classification of excavated material and acid sulfate soil (ASS) assessment. Samples are collected under appropriate protocols and tested through NATA-accredited laboratories. The results help you manage spoil disposal, meet regulatory requirements and avoid unexpected costs during construction.
