Beenleigh Piling Work Platform Design

GT Geotechnical was engaged by Megaplex Construction Pty Ltd to deliver a time-critical piling work platform design for mobile piling operations at Beenleigh.

With piling works scheduled to commence within days of initial contact, GT Geotechnical mobilized immediately to undertake supplementary geotechnical investigations, including borehole drilling and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing, to confirm ground conditions and develop a reliable ground model. These investigations were carried out alongside ongoing earthworks, allowing real-time geotechnical input to the construction team.

The final working platform design incorporated triaxial geogrid reinforcement, significantly reducing the required gravel thickness and overall material volumes. This approach delivered substantial cost savings on imported materials while also shortening construction time, enabling faster establishment of the piling platform.

Additional site inspections and proof rolling identified localized soft spots and areas of uncertified fill. Practical, construction-focused advice was provided on subgrade treatment and remediation measures, allowing the platform design to be finalized without disrupting the construction sequence.

Through rapid mobilization, smart use of geosynthetics, and close collaboration with the contractor, GT Geotechnical delivered a compliant and efficient piling pad design—keeping the project moving and avoiding delays to the construction programme.
